Isle of Man TT 2018 - Update

Well if you’re like me and have been watching the highlights on tv you can’t be anything but impressed with how the week has unfolded. With my crystal ball still working I managed to predicted the three winners of the four races so far - Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman.

RACE 1 - SUPERBIKE

You couldn’t help but feel for Dean as he had the first Superbike race won when his bike broke down handing the win to Michael Dunlop.

RACE 2 - SIDECAR

I must admit to not being up to speed on the sidecars in fact all I really know is the Birchall brothers always win at the TT and the sidecars always spill loads of oil all over the Brands Hatch track at every meeting! So it was no surprise when Ben and Tom Birchall disappeared into the distance to win easily with a new lap record.

RACE 3 - SUPERSPORT

You can’t take anything away from Mr Dunlop in the first Supersport race, he was totally flawless as he won in style.

RACE 4 - STOCK

Nothing could have prepared me for the amazing Stock 1000 race. Peter Hickman’s performance was truly stunning to the point that I think it’s the best road race I’ve ever seen. To beat Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison is no mean feat as they’re both brilliant riders in top form - but to misjudge a corner and cost yourself eleven seconds only to go on and completely smash the lap record twice and course record by nearly a minute to win your first TT is utterly ridiculous. Peter Hickman’s time on a stock bike (road bike with tread tyres) was just 0.029 off of the Superbike outright lap record on slicks - WOW!

I couldn’t believe what I was watching, this sort of thing only ever happens in cheesy Hollywood films.

RACE 5 - SUPERSPORT

It was also magic to see Dean get his second TT win in the second Supersport race of the meeting, even though Michael Dunlop was given a penalty of thirty seconds for speeding in the pit, there was no way he was ever going to catch Dean who had pulled away at just about every sector throughout the race.

What a week so far and there’s still more to come including the blue ribboned final Senior race which I think Dean will win.

Three different winners in four races including a maiden victory, you just couldn’t write this stuff - oh yeah I did, perhaps you can!
