Moto GP - Aragon, pre-race thoughts

MOTO GP - ARAGON SPAIN

ROUND 14 - SEPT 23rd

This round should all be about Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo and it probably will be. Marc must be getting a bit frustrated that even though he has a more than comfortable lead in the championship (which he will win) he hasn’t stood on the top step since Germany July 15th. That, in Marquez world, is probably like five years in the real world. I thought he would win last time out but Andrea Dovizioso was absolutely faultless on race day.

Will Dovizioso turn up this Sunday or will he settle for a podium, who can tell?

I predict a two horse race between Marquez and Lorenzo with Marquez to come on strong at the finish.

Both Spaniards will be fighting hard for the bragging rights and there won’t be much smiling on the podium from the loser.

Valentino Rossi seems to have lost his mojo at the moment so I don’t think he’ll figure in the race.

Cal Crutchlow will obviously try his best but unless the weather plays a part I don’t think he has the machinery to beat Marquez, Lorenzo or Dovizioso.

Maverick Viñales might turn up at some point in the race but I doubt it!

I know I don’t normally cover Moto2, but what was Romano Fenati thinking? I’ve seen some pretty stupid things in motorcycle racing over the years but nothing that even comes close to this grabbing of the brake lever, of your opponents bike!!

When Valentino and Marquez had their handbags at dawn moment, Valentino kicked out at about 10mph therefore when Marquez fell off there was a serious chance of him breaking a finger nail. Romano Fenati and Stefano Manzi were travelling at over 120mph when Fenati grabbed Manzi’s break lever. Wow what an idiot! It’s no exaggeration to say he could have killed him. It’s therefore not a shock to find out that his team (Marinelli Snipers) sacked him straight after the race or that MV Agusta, who he was contracted to race for in 2019, decided he was not the kind of sportsman they wanted riding their motorcycle next season! Oops!
