MOTO GP - MARCO SIMONCELLI CIRCUIT SAN MARINO - 9TH SEPT

After the ridiculous shambles of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone let’s all hope for a great meeting this weekend. I held fire on what happened at Silverstone as I knew it would just turn into a long rant, so let’s move on.

Marc Marquez will probably win with Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo for company on the podium, but is there anyone else who could upset the three of them?

Valentino Rossi has always been the Sunday man and Yamaha definitely have found something in testing so maybe he could be up there.

Cal Crutchlow has been showing flashes of brilliance but the chances of him staying on the bike for a whole race seem pretty slim to me.

Like I said, Marquez to win........again!

Oh and I lied , I’m going to have a massive rant about Silverstone anyway.....

SILVERSTONE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE MOTO GP CALENDAR

I started watching motorcycle racing as a kid in 1976 mainly because of Barry Sheene and I can honestly say I’ve never seen such a shambles at any Grand Prix anywhere in the world as I saw on Sunday. I heard every excuse but the best one was that the circuit is too flat! I’d like to know what’s happened in the last year to make it so much flatter than before. I have covered quite a few motorcycle races at Silverstone in heavier rain than last Sunday and cancellation of these meetings was never discussed by the organisers or racers.

Silverstone have paid a lot of money to have the track resurfaced and it obviously hasn’t been done correctly even the safety car was having trouble staying on track and let’s be honest it was hardly a monsoon.

I’d like to know whether it was some bloke with a van came knocking on their door late at night offering to do it cash in hand!

I certainly don’t blame to riders for not wanting to race bearing in mind that half a dozen of them are wet weather specialists, that means the track conditions were extremely dangerous. I’m also not surprised that of all the riders only a few where ready to race including the absolutely bonkers Jack Miller

Jack was always going to give it a go as it was his only chance of getting on the podium regardless of the risk involved. Scott Redding also had a dig which I found quite amusing as all the British riders seem to have a major problem with staying on their bikes in the dry!

In a sport that is still so incredibly dangerous even with all the safety measures in place there’s no excuse with having a deathwish and some riders need protection from their own bravado!
