Racing Update: IOM and MotoGP

ISLE OF MAN TT 2018

Well I think we can all agree that was the most amazing Isle of Man TT ever! Records being smashed all over the place and new winners in Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman.

RACE 6 - ZERO

Michael Rutter won, well I think that’s what they said when I managed to wake up from my boredom induced deep sleep!

RACE 7 - SIDECAR

The Birchall brothers won again!

RACE 8 - SENIOR

Where do I start? I thought I’d seen the best road race ever when I watched the Stock race midweek but this was every bit as exciting. I predicted Dean Harrison would win and I was looking pretty smug until the last couple of miles.

I thought Peter Hickman’s win in the Stock was amazing but I really did think that was it, he’d had his moment. Well I have to apologise to Peter because he showed in the Senior that he really is the fastest road racer on the planet. 135 MPH around the TT circuit is just plain crazy!

Even though Michael Dunlop won three races and Peter Hickman won two the rider of the week has to be Peter as Michael was gifted two of his three wins and Peter rode beyond what I thought was possible to win his two. I managed to predict the possibility of Peter winning but I didn’t expect him to be as brilliant as he was, I’m still trying to get my head around how fast he was. I can’t see either of his amazing lap records being broken for a long long time!

MOTO GP - MUGELLO

ITALY - JUNE 1st to 3rd

What a great win for Jorge Lorenzo and long overdue. The result also keeps Andrea Dovizioso in the hunt - sort of, and Valentino moves up to second. I still can’t see anyone touching Marc Marquez for the title. Let’s face it he fell off and still leads the championship by 23 Points!

MOTO GP - CATALUNYA

SPAIN - JUNE 15th to 17th

After his embarrassing fall in Mugello I can’t see Marc Marquez not going all out for the win and he’ll probably deliver. So if Marquez doesn’t fall off who can beat him? Well now that Jorge Lorenzo has got his first win on the Ducati I wouldn’t discount him from doing it again. Andrea Dovizioso should be up there, but even though Valentino Rossi is second in the championship I don’t think there’s anyway he’ll win this one, but oh how I’d love to be wrong!
