TOP 10 - ON SCREEN MOTORCYCLE PERFORMANCES!

10 - THE MATRIX RELOADED

The 2001 Ducati 996 was the only choice for this movie as it looked so futuristic at the time and still looks pretty cool today.

9 - WALLACE AND GROMIT - A CLOSE SHAVE

Definitely a classic motorcycle and sidecar performance that we all loved and still end up watching if it comes on.

Death in Paradise just wouldn’t be the same without the classic Royal Enfield appearance. I think it was originally put in there for comedy value, but as it turns out, it’s now a bit of a character itself.

BSA Blue Star (Norton in later episodes) with another ridiculous sidecar. Seeing Olive in the sidecar is still rather funny even if the program was truly terrible!

6 - SONS OF ANARCHY

A Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob, Harley-Davidson Electra Tri-Glide, lots of Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glides and a 70s Triumph Bonneville to top it off make this television motorcycle heaven and is probably responsible for 90% of the Harley’s we see on the road today.

5 - THE WILD ONE

Marlon Brandon leaning on the handle bars of his Triumph Thunderbird 6T has to be one of the most iconic images in film history even if the head protection isn’t that impressive.

4 - MAD MAX

The Kawazaki KZ1000 and not just Goose’s iconic police patrol bike!

The baddies had them too and they looked so cool. I remember the film being X rated in 1979 but back then no one really cared about age restrictions - so even though I would have been thirteen at the time, I still managed to get in smoking a cigarette and wearing my leather jacket. How times have changed!

This movie is probably responsible for selling more motorcycles than any other in history and the 1959 Harley Davidson Captain America Chopper steals the show biggly!

2 - TERMINATOR 2 - JUDGEMENT DAY

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 90s Harley-Davidson Fat Boy puts in an amazing performance in the utterly jaw dropping canal chase scene. I don’t think anyone has ever managed to look cooler on a Harley than Arnie did in this 1991 classic.

1 - THE GREAT ESCAPE

Steve McQueen’s Modified 1961 Triumph TR6 Trophy has to be number one as it’s the most iconic motorcycle scene in any film. Every time you see it you still hope he makes the jump, which is quite ironic as no Americans or motorcycles were actually involved in the real escape (And the Germans definitely wouldn’t have had a 1961 Triumph in 1944)! Even though Steve McQueen was a brilliant rider and did a lot of his own stunts, he wasn’t allowed to do the final jump - Bud Ekins was the stuntman with that honour.
