So this week I thought I would try the new Vulcanet cleaning kit that everyone at Bike Stop is raving about.
First of all, what is it? Essentially it is a cleaning wipe which allows you to clean without using any water. This seems like the perfect product for somebody who lets say lives in a flat and has no access to a hose.
What can you use it for?
- Degreasing surfaces such as bodywork and wheels
- Cleaning leather
- Removing kamikaze insects from your bike/car
- Cleaning carpets
- Cleaning windows and mirrors
- Cleaning the family cats feet when it comes in from a rainy day…….actually maybe on second thoughts keep it away from pets.
Putting it to the test
Now not only does vulcanet claim to remove all grime and tar from surfaces, it also claims to leave a shiney finish that protects all the surfaces from micro scratches, now that does seem impressive. So impressive in fact that I thought I would buy myself a vulcanet kit, and put it to the test on my selection of unloved dirty vehicles.
I will show you some before and after pictures to see how effective vulcanet really is! I will tell you however, you lot could probably get better results than I did in my pictures, as to be honest I am a bit lazy when It comes to cleaning, I can never put my heart and soul into it, but that's another great thing about vulcanet, it takes most of the effort out of it.

Verdict
Hopefully you lot can see from my pictures that this stuff is pretty impressive, I also only used one wipe while taking these pictures, so while £30 might seem steep for a tub of wipes, they do last surprisingly well. If your bike isn’t half as mucky as mine, 1 wipe should do all your bodywork, and maybe another wipe to do the wheels and engine casings. As you get 80 wipes in the tub, these wipes will last you quite sometime, I personally feel vulcanet is better value for money than the Muc off or SDoc cleaning products.
I have also tried to think of some downsides for vulcanet, as most of you are probably thinking I am on commission or something based on this review so far, while I can not think of many issues I had using this product, one thing did strike me was that when the weather is warm the wipes dry out fairly quickly if you are not careful, and when you apply the wipes to the surface, you have to buff it out with the microfiber cloth quite soon in hotter temperatures, otherwise you risk the solution drying on your bike and you have to start over. However this didn't really bother me much, I just moved my bike into the shade, and the problem was solved.
As always if you have any questions about this product go visit Bike Stop in Stevenage and ask the experts, or give them a call on 01438317038.
