Racing statistics is fun. How you cut and slice the data can make things appear better or worse than the perception. It's important to remember that while you're reading this article. When determining the best riders in MotoGP, you have multiple selection criteria, and each will provide a different outcome. Do you go on race wins or championships? Nicky Hayden is a world champion but only won three races during his MotoGP career. At the other end of the scale, Dani Pedrosa took the top step of the podium thirty-one times during his MotoGP years but failed to bag a single championship. Rossi has won more races than Agostini, but Agostini remains at the top of the tree regarding titles. However, what I'm going to try and determine in this article is dominance.
The MotoGP 2021 is underway and the big question on every fan’s lips is will Marc Marquez be the same rider that he was before his accident? I personally doubt that he’ll be quite the same as he’ll undoubtedly have realised that he is mortal! Having said that he’ll still be the one to beat but it might take him a couple of rounds to get up to race speed (this is Marc Marquez I’m talking about so probably not!)
John is a former 1992, 2001 and 2004 British Superbike Champion and is an all time great of BSB. With 202 starts, John had 37 career wins and 117 podiums which makes him one of a select few riders to finish on the podium in over half of his career wins.
I met John at this year's Bike Show at the Excel and he kindly answered some questions for us.

John is the second all-time Isle of Man TT winner with 23 victories, second only to Joey Dunlop and has taken more podiums (47) than any other rider in the history of the Isle of Man TT races.

Can anyone stop Marc Marquez in 2020? That is the million dollar question! I still find it hard to imagine Marc not winning but let’s not get too defeatist. Let’s consider for a moment the possibility that Marc doesn’t get off to a great start and starts to panic (this obviously won’t happen but stay with me).
Well, after the carnage of Catalunya when Jorge Lorenzo inadvertently handed Marc Marquez his eighth title, Honda must have been thinking, wow this Lorenzo guy is the best signing we could have possibly made!
Josh Brookes was the king of Brands again and looked in control all weekend but can he do the same at Knockhill? I wouldn’t be surprised if he did as he looks extremely confident.
