Best Dainese Leather Jackets

Spring will soon be around the corner so there's no better time to start eyeing up a new leather jacket, and arguably one of the best brands you could choose is Dainese. The Italian brand has made a name for itself in motorsport and with riders of all other levels for creating kit that offers some of the best in protection and great style. The inimitable motorcycle leather jacket is something most bikers will want in their repetoire - the combination of that classic look (or maybe a more modern, sporty look) along with some of the best crash protection possible is very desirable. This post will go through some of the best Dainese has to offer if you're after a leather jacket for the upcoming riding season.

It'd be remiss to consider making a list like this without including at least one of Dainese's greatest achievements to date - their D-air airbag protection system. You used to have to attach sensors to bikes or have a ripcord to get airbags to work for motorcycle riders, but D-air nowadays has everything inside the jacket. It just needs a charge every so often, but otherwise it works and looks just like a normal jacket.

Dainese presently offer 3 D-air equipped leather jackets - the Racing 3, Tuono (above) and the end-of-line Misano). It's also worth mentioning the full suits they offer (including the world's first airbag equipped suit tailored to women) and the Smart Jacket that can be worn under another ordinary jacket, working in the same way as the other latest D-air kit. Naturally all 3 jackets come with extremely tough leather outers, with the Tuono and Misano getting specially treated D-skin 2 cowhide for the ultimate in abrasion protection, and the Misano receiving a speed hump. The Tuono is the one to beat at the moment, with replaceable aluminium elbow sliders on top of the shoulder ones in place on the others. The jackets start at £1099.99 - a hefty investment, but truly some of the best gear you can buy at the moment.

Moving into more conventional territory, and more attainable budgets, Dainese have a great range; we stock over 30 kinds of Dainese leather jackets for men and women so it's fair to say there's a good chance there's one you'll like the look of!

Dainese have recently started doing jackets that aren't quite as distinctive as race jackets, but add a little bit of flair that you don't find in the traditional plain leather look.

The Dainese Agile is a great example of this, with a stylish colour schemes that stand apart from the crowd. Excellent armour in the shoulder and elbows, aluminium plating on the shoulders, and Tutu cowhide make this a highly capable jacket whatever you're riding. There's also a perforated version for even more ventilation in the summer.

If you're after something with a more classic look, go no further than the Dainese Corbin D-dry - not only does it have timeless style, it also has the more modern feature of a D-dry breathable waterproof liner. Arguably one of the most capable leather jackets for the road rider, it includes ventilated mesh panels on the front for summer riding, the removable D-dry liner for when it gets soggy and a removable thermal liner for cold weather. Not only that, the cowhide used in the jacket has been treated with silicone so it's even washable - leather jackets have a habit of getting a bit whiffy, especially if they get wet. Solid elbow and shoulder protection round off a jacket that could end up being the only jacket you need. At £449.99, it's a steal for the average road rider who wants both crash and weather protection as standard.

Coming back to more racy jackets akin to the D-air equipped ones, we have another great selection. The range-topper is the Super Race - second only really to the D-air kit. With the same highly capable D-skin 2 as the Tuono D-air, along with elbow and shoulder sliders and impact protection, and improved range of movement through Tri-Axial tech - if you're after a conventional leather jacket for the track this is the one to beat. Coming in a distinctive array of colours, you'll not only have super protection, but you'll stand out wearing it. There's also a perforated version for summer riding.
