Bike Stop's Ladies Day and Ladies Gear

We've just had International Women's Day, and Bike Stop's soon to be having its Ladies Day, dedicated to all those female riders out there. It used to be the unfortunate truth that the average lady rider was somewhat cast aside by gear manufacturers, however the times are a-changing and most manufacturers are increasing their ladies gear ranges markedly, with our favourite Dainese offering some of their latest gear in flattering shapes and sizes, with some of the best tech on board.

So what is Bike Stop's Ladies Day? We're holding it at our shop on Stevenage High Street on Saturday the 16th of March, to showcase our range of female gear, amongst many other things!

Bike Stop carries a wide range of gear for both men and women, however going forward from next Saturday there'll be an increased range for those of the fairer sex. If you're able to attend there's a prize draw from a pool of £500 worth of prizes from our Motogirl range, especially popular for those after stylish gear such as kevlar leggings. This prize draw is only for those who attend, so you have to be there to be in it!

Not only this, but there'll be live music for the day, as well as the introduction of new Shark helmets which be available for demo.

Another thing that Bike Stop prides itself on is its tailoring service. As with any clothing it's common for the occasional little bit of a jacket or pair of trousers that might be a bit too long or loose - our tailoring service will allow you to make that slightly imperfect garment into something that you'll love to wear.

Moving onto our gear range for women, and it's altogether good news. It used to be the case that most of the gear available (from anywhere!) was simply slightly reshaped male gear, with some pink bits - not much use for the serious rider, or someone who gives even a bit of a damn how they look. It's absolutely imperative that gear fits you correctly, and it's fair to say that most women will not fit into a lot of mens gear properly, it's a simple fact of life. For normal clothes this'd be an inconvenience at best, but on a bike it could be very dangerous - armour slipping around the wrongly shaped body will mean they won't take the impact in the right place, loose gear flaps about creating a distraction, while tight areas can reduce manoeuvrability which is especially crucial at low speeds when looking around and swinging the handlebars back and forth. Long story short, women riders need gear that fits them well to provide the best protection possible!

As mentioned before, Dainese is one of the best manufacturers out there for ladies gear, and their range is getting ever large and more advanced - they're well beyond the 'pink bits' stage, with unique gear that any rider would be proud to wear. Just recently they introduced the world's first women's one-piece airbag equipped suit, perfect for the trackday rider who's worried about how they may fare in a spill - you get an actually usable and flattering fit, with some of the best protection money can buy. The Misano D-air is definitely for the discerning lady rider, but you won't get much better. Dainese also offers several other leather one-piece and two-piece suits along side their fancy-pants Misano suit for those after more conventional and more affordable, but still high quality, protection. On top of this they have a wide range of textile gear for those who adventure for a pastime, or commute.

In our giveaway on our Ladies Day there will be Motogirl gear up for grabs, and it's not being given away because it's needing to be cleared! It's understandable that you may want to look good both on and off the bike for whatever reason, but a lot of motorcycle gear doesn't lend itself to this. Motogirl make excellent aramid leggings that allow for a flexible fit, that's also fairly cool in the summer, while providing some all-important protection. Of course you get abrasion protection from the aramid fibre, but they even include armour to allay some of that force if you're unfortunate to hit something. They only thing they lack is weather protection, but Motogirl has you covered there too with overtrousers and jackets. It's also worth mentioning they offer an aramid jacket which is nice and subtle looking.

We have a Facebook event set up for Ladies Day so get yourself down as attending so you don't forget to get involved!
