BSB BRITISH SUPERBIKES - ROUND 6
SNETTERTON 300 - JULY 19th - 21st
Scott Redding doesn’t seem to be in the mood to except second place in this year’s BSB and if Knockhill is anything to go by, the writing could already be on the wall! I didn’t think he would be able to get to grips with such a strange track but Scott looked like he’d raced there before with some outrageous overtakes - and I can see why the fans love him so much. He’s an exciting rider to watch, incredibly honest in all the interviews and you don’t have to read between the lines as he just says it how it is.
I know that I predicted Josh Brookes to win the title but I’m hoping I was wrong and that Scott is the man to lift the title. I still think this is going to be a classic year for the championship and might just go down to the wire.
Tarran Mackenzie is still in a good position for the title after his brilliant second position in race two at Knockhill but the power of the Ducatis is proving hard to compete with and I think they’re only going to get faster as the season progresses.
I used to like interviewing Danny Buchan as he was always great on camera and he’s surprising quite a few people this year with the results he’s getting. I must admit I’m not shocked as the clues were there! Give Danny a big bike and he’ll find it no problem to go fast - he showed that at Knockhill when he muscled the Kawazaki around the track to win the first race. I can definitely see Danny making the showdown.
Tommy Bridewell managed a damage limitation third in the second race at Knockhill but I can’t see his Ducati beating either Scott or Josh at Snetterton.
Xavi Forés has always been a classy rider but I don’t think anyone really fancied his chances in BSB on the Honda! Xavi is proving a lot of doubters, including me, wrong and is looking pretty comfortable in sixth place in the championship.
Josh Brookes has to win at Snetterton or at least finish in front of teammate Scott Redding. The trouble is, I think Scott is enjoying the taste of victory and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had another great meeting at Snetterton.
Snetterton round 6 is the halfway point of the season and I can’t believe how fast this season seems to be going! This year’s BSB British Superbikes is proving to be one of most exciting seasons and the Supersport is pretty crazy too!
