Events at Bike Stop in 2018

The new year has just begun, and what better time to look forward to what the year has to offer. Here at Bike Stop there are loads of events lined up, on top of the best motorcycling events the UK has to offer.

Even though less people are riding bikes at this time of year, there is still plenty to do. Bike Stop is hosting several events over the course of the year, the first on the 20th of January.

First up is an ear plug moulding event - if you live nearer to Bike Stop than to an ear plug moulder it's well worth a look. You simply cannot beat a custom moulded earplug for effective hearing protection and reduction of fatigue. ACS will be visiting Bike Stop on a monthly basis throughout the year, and their events will be advertised on Bike Stop's Facebook page ahead of time.

Moving onto March and our monthly rideout events will begin. Every first Sunday of the month Bike Stop will be hosting a rideout, with fresh hot bacon and sausage rolls available to fill you up. Once again these will be advertised on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages ahead of time to remind you.

There's also set to be quarterly made-to-measure events. All textiles and leathers at Bike Stop are available with tailoring to ensure the best protection and comfort of your gear. These events will enlighten bikers to the benefits of tailoring, making their gear perfect for them.

Moving further into the year, and into the famed British summer (fingers crossed for more than one day of sunshine!). On the weekend of the 7th and 8th of July, Bike Stop will be a checkpoint for the ACU National Rally.  For those who've never heard of it, it's a large event involving many bikers riding either all day, all night, or both, riding up to 540 miles with several checkpoints along the way. Come and show your support to these dedicated riders, or even take part yourself if you think you're made of tough enough stuff.

Moving beyond Bike Stop, there are a great many events all over the UK to look forward to this year. For starters there are the British Superbikes races, all 12 of them, starting at the very end of March going on until October. The UK round of World Superbikes is happening 25-27 May at Donington Park, and the daddy, MotoGP, is happening 24-26 August. What this means is you have no excuse not to sample all three is little chance of them clashing! The MotoGP especially looks like it's heating up this year with the French rookie Johann Zarco putting real pressure on the established riders towards the end of the year.

You also can't forget what is arguably the best motorcycle road race in the world, the Isle of Man TT. Ferry crossings will now be like rocking horse dung, but if you can find a way to get there and a place to stay then it's absolutely worth the trip, even if the weather isn't always reliable in the Irish Sea. Camp, stay with a friend or find a hotel, it's sure to be a blast.

There are two properly big motorcycle shows in the UK this year, the MCN Festival of Motorcycling and Motorcycle Live. The MCN Festival is being held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on the weekend of 19-20 May. Hundreds of test rides, several stunt shows, hundreds of stalls and a weekend of camping are the name of the day (or you can just visit for the day). I would suggest bringing cash though, the machines on site have charged for years now. Personally I'd get together with some biking mates and stay for the whole weekend on the campsite for the best experience. Motorcycling Live is taking place at the NEC in Birmingham towards the end of the year - the dates have yet to be announced but it usually happens in November some time.

Suffice to say there are plenty of other events across the UK that haven't been mentioned here, if you feel any have been missed that deserve a mention then leave a comment. You could even drop by the shop in Stevenage to talk about leaving flyers in the shop to promote a motorcycle event that you feel deserves more attention!
