MOTOGP 2019 - ROUND 1 - QATAR 10th MARCH

Don’t worry we’re almost there and the MotoGP madness can begin again.

I can’t wait for Sunday! Last season seems like such a long time ago. So, is there any chance of us seeing a new champion by the end of this season? Well yes there’s always a chance that Marc Marquez could have a nightmare season, and if Maverick Viñales or Andrea Dovizioso get off to a flyer things could get interesting.

This year Marc Marquez will also have to deal with Jorge Lorenzo on the other side of the Honda garage - Lorenzo could really throw a spanner in the works as he won’t want to play number two rider. So do I really think that Lorenzo will be able to get the better of Marquez?............No I doubt it, I can’t really see Marc Marquez letting anyone or anything getting in the way of another title - but this is MotoGP and strange things can and do happen.

I think this might be the podium - Dovizioso, Marquez and Viñales, but as the late, great Eric Morecambe famously said "but not necessarily in the right order”.

PRE SEASON TESTING

Both Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo seem happy on the Honda. Marquez set the pace on the first day of testing but neither really showed what they are really capable of.

Maverick Viñales was looking impressive while his team mate Valentino Rossi was seemingly struggling.

I wouldn’t read to much into this as Valentino rarely tries too hard unless it’s Raceday.

Andrea Dovizioso knows the Ducati better than anyone now and he’s pretty quick around the Qatar circuit. This season will probably be his best chance of getting his hands on the title,

but will his fast team mate Danilo Petrucci complicate things and does Andrea really believe he can beat Marc Marquez?

Even though I think it’s going to be the usual suspects fighting for the title, wouldn’t it be great if I was totally wrong and one of the rookies managed to get into the mix?

Keep an eye out for Moto2 Champion Francesco Bagnaia and runner-up Miguel Oliveira.
