Well, after the carnage of Catalunya when Jorge Lorenzo inadvertently handed Marc Marquez his eighth title, Honda must have been thinking, wow this Lorenzo guy is the best signing we could have possibly made!
With Marc Marquez 37 points clear at round 8, there is no way on earth he’ll ll throw that away, it really is over.
ASSEN TT - NETHERLANDS
Marc Marquez will probably win in Assen but doesn’t really have to as he’s so far ahead now. I expect him to at least extend his lead to over 40 points.
I know that Andrea Dovizioso was knocked off his bike through no fault of his own last time out, but he really doesn’t look like a man who thinks he can win the title. Hopefully I’m wrong but he’d better start winning soon otherwise he might not even manage second.
Maverick Viñales was brilliant last year at Assen but he’s so hot and cold this year he probably won’t turn up.
Valentino Rossi is always fast around Assen but time seems to finally be catching up with the greatest of all time and I think third is the best he can hope for.
The question I want to know the answer to is can Cal Crutchlow stay on his bike for a whole race?
I would love to see Fabio Quartararo win at Assen and a lot of people are predicting it, but Marc Marquez will try to put the young Frenchman in his place.
Even though Danilo Petrucci has his first win in MotoGP under his belt, this is his first season with the Ducati factory team and I don’t think anyone could really have expected him to be fighting for the title. Next year might be a different story though!
Jorge Lorenzo might have ruined the last race but at least he gave it a go. I think it’s fair to say everyone was surprised he was up with the front runners, hopefully he’ll be able to put it to the back of his mind and go all out for a top five finish in Assen.
Assen has always been a great track for MotoGP, so let’s hope we get to see a close and clean race to make up for Catalunya.
