Bike Stop has been open for nearly 35 years now and its selection of gear and reputation has steadily grown, while maintaining a personal touch to our service that can be lacking in online and warehouse vendors. We’re located in the centre of Old Town Stevenage in Hertfordshire – metres away from the original home of Vincent Motorcycles, now sadly only marked by a plaque. Bike Stop itself is also situated in a lovely old Grade 2 listed building with dark exposed beams in the ceiling inside and often called a “Tardis” as it is much bigger than it looks from the outside! Bike Stop offers a huge range of gear from top quality brands and has a particularly close partnership with Dainese – we were the first, and hence now the longest standing, dealer in the UK. We pride ourselves on personal customer service, ensuring you feel a valued customer. We have more stock in the shop rather than just a warehouse, than many other shops but if you manage to find something you want that we don’t have in store, the availability can be checked to help with your decision and, if needed, it can easily be ordered in quickly. We stock helmets, jackets, trousers, gloves and boots, alongside all the accessories you could need like luggage, sat navs and comms.
A relatively new addition to the shop is a fully fledged café – we serve fresh and delicious Lavazza coffee (no instant muck here!) as well as paninis, sandwiches and cakes from a local delicatessen in Welwyn Garden City. This means we are more than just a shop – we’re a destination for bikers, as well as those who just want a drink or bite to eat. We’ve both indoor and outdoor seating available along with free dedicated parking for bikes (cars also get 3 hours free along the whole High Street). Bikes and cafés are synonymous throughout biking history, especially in the UK – there’s nothing like a hot brew and a bit of cake before looking at the bikes parked out front, and relaxing while on a ride in beautiful Hertfordshire, and neighbouring Bedfordshire, countryside which is jam packed with great roads.
This year we’ve started hosting rideouts on the first Sunday of each month – this will be beginning again in March when temperatures are more favourable. Arguably most crucially though, this includes us offering fresh hot bacon and sausage rolls to fill you up before you go back out for a ride. The rides will be shared on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages to remind you in advance.
Over the course of the year there will be around 10-12 events held at Bike Stop – all of these will be shared on social media, in our email newsletters (so make sure you sign up) and advertised in the shop. On top of this there are monthly custom earplug moulding sessions – allowing you to get the ultimate in personalised ear protection without having to go any further than our shop. There are also quarterly made-to-measure events – most leathers and textiles can be tailored to suit you perfectly, enhance your protection and boost comfort.
Bike Stop also has a modern website which gives free next day delivery (for orders over £25), 365 day free returns and 0% finance. Even if you can’t make it to the shop whenever you want you can still get the same great customer service wherever you are in the UK, and buy the same high quality gear. The website also has a Live Chat service that allows you to ask any questions you may have which'll be answered by one of our knowledgable in-store staff.
