The Top Jackets In Bike Stop's Clearance

Bike Stop's clearance is currently on, and there are plenty of deals for you to get your teeth into, with all categories of gear seeing items getting hefty discounts, allowing you to get that premium piece of gear that might have previously been out of reach.

Jackets are often items that bikers buy to last them a good few years, which means you need something that'll do the distance, as well as providing top protection from the elements as well as any obstacle you may be unfortunate enough to find yourself sliding towards! Naturally this often comes at a cost, which means our clearance is an ideal time to get modern, premium gear at a price that'll be easier to explain to the other half, or at the very least your own conscience! You'll find jackets can be quite use specific, with the look of the jacket generally giving away what it's good at. For all-out protection, a well-armoured, well-fitting leather jacket is very hard to beat, but it's limited in how flexible it can be to weather conditions, while textile gear can allow for much greater flexibility for weather with slightly reduced abrasion protection, although you can find the same armour in both types.

First up we've got the big ticket item, the Dainese Misano D-air leather sports jacket. We've had a few blog posts recently covering Dainese gear, as well as D-air itself, and that's for good reason; we believe it's some of the best gear you can buy, and with Bike Stop being the first UK stockist for Dainese gear back in 1981, it's something that is core to the business. The Misano D-air used to be just shy of £1500, but it's seen a huge cut of over a third down to £949.99, all because the new D-air gear is on the way shortly. Crucially though, this new gear hasn't even hit the shelves yet, so this is still one of the latest and greatest airbag equipped jackets, with a whopping £550 off! It's even got a bigger airbag than its successor. Airbag tech that doesn't need sensors attaching to the bike, alongside famed Dainese conventional protection and quality, and a hefty chunk of change off the price, what's not to like?

Alongside the Misano, there are two other D-air jackets that are in the Bike Stop clearance; the D-air Cyclone Goretex, and the D-air Street. These have both received huge discounts in preparation for the new range that is yet to appear, but they're more road focussed than the Misano, with the Cyclone coming in at the higher end at £1299.99 (down from £1699.99) and the Street further down the range, but still receiving a mega discount at £839.99 (down from £1399.99). The Cyclone packs in the same D-air tech as the Misano, so not requiring any sensors to be attached to the bike for the airbag to deploy, while the Street relies on the previous generation of the technology that requires sensors to be attached to communicate with the airbag. They both offer a more road friendly fit, with better weather protection than the Misano. They both include Goretex, giving superb waterproofing, but the Cyclone goes further by including laminated Goretex. Ordinarily Goretex is integrated as a layer inside the jacket, which means you don't get wet, but often means the outer layers of the jacket get saturated and heavy. The lamination to the outer layer of the jacket means you get all the benefits of Goretex (waterproofing and breathability) but the rain will just run off the jacket, keeping the jacket lighter, as well as drying out quicker once you're home.

Rukka, if you haven't already heard of them, are one of the manufacturers of choice for all-weather riders, whether they be commuters or adventurers. They produce some of the best touring gear around, but this comes with a price. Bike Stop has several Rukka jackets in clearance, which means this could be the ideal time to snag one of their top-end items, ideal for cutting through traffic into London in the dead of winter, or to get to Africa and back. The Navigatorr is one of Rukka's top-of-the-range jackets, offering, like the Dainese D-air Cyclone, laminated Goretex, to ensure ultimate waterproofing and comfort. D3O provide the armour (shoulders, arms, back) offering some of the best impact protection you'll get in a textile jacket, giving superb protection without needing to add anything at all. Super convenient snap fasteners on the outside pockets allow you to get at items without taking off your gloves, especially useful when it's chilly out. The Navigatorr is currently down to £824.99 from £1099.99.

Moving onto some more 'stylish' gear, Belstaff are the go-to for those who want an authentic classic look for quality motorcycle gear, and there is a large range of their jackets in the Bike Stop clearance. Their bread and butter is the waxed cotton jacket, although it's been updated for the modern age. It used to be the case that the wax would simply rub off, completely ruining the waterproofing of the jacket, but this is not the case anymore, along with the fact that it doesn't smell funny like the old ones did. Their jackets include modern CE approved armour in the shoulders and elbows, with half decent abrasion protection offered by the heavy cotton. In the clearance, discounts go up to £115 off Belstaff jackets.
