    RACES 1st - 7th JUNE

Last year’s TT was probably the best meeting we’ve ever seen, the conditions were perfect and we saw records broken in nearly every race. So will this year’s event live up to expectations?

    DONINGTON

    PARK 24th - 26th MAY

Another bank holiday weekend and another BSB weekend. The last meeting at Oulton Park was dominated by Josh Brookes which I found surprising bearing in mind Ducati is one of the new bikes on the grid. I thought it was going to take at least four race meetings before Bewiser could iron out all the issues, but they turned it around in a couple of weeks - this could be ominous for rest of the field

I really enjoyed being back in the paddock and press rooms at Silverstone, it gave me a chance to catch up with some old friends and colleagues and get the gossip.

    BSB BRITISH SUPERBIKES 2019

    SILVERSTONE - ROUND 1 - APRIL 19th - 21st

The start of a fascinating BSB British Superbike season is almost upon us and I can’t wait for this one.

    No Shakey (yes thats me!!),

    no reigning Champion Leon Haslam

    and no Jake Dixon

....so it’s going to be boring right! Think again, this could be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory. We still have 2015 Champ Josh Brookes and teammate Scott Redding from MotoGP - we also have Bradley Ray, James O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie.

So who are ones to watch?

Scott Reading is a lot of people’s favourite due to his time in MotoGP, let’s face it he’s going to have quite an advantage after racing with the likes of Marquez, Rossi and Dovizioso, but how is he going to get on with learning unfamiliar tracks?

Josh Brookes is my tip for the title. He knows how to win it and he’s with a great team. It’ll be interesting to watch how he deals with Scott as teammate.

Jason O’Halloran has been looking great pre-season and he’s due a bit of luck this season, but first he has the tricky issue of beating his teammate Tarran Mackenzie.

Tarran Mackenzie back from MotoGP looks like a good bet. I’ve heard many a commentator remark in the past about a riders physical size (Dani Pedrosa springs to mind) and question whether they can muscle the bike like the big guys. Well I have never seen Tarran have any such problem, just give him a competitive machine and he’ll do the rest. He’s definitely Niall’s son when the lights go out.

Bradley Ray started last season like a rocket but mid season made a few mistakes which cost him the title. Bradley is another great young rider to watch.

Glenn Irwin didn’t live up to the expectations of his team last year but replacing Shane Byrne as number one rider was never going to be easy. I think it probably came a year too early but don’t discount him this year - he’s quality.

Ben Currie was extremely unlucky last year in Supersport and made a couple of mistakes but he’s really strong minded and will probably be able to put that behind him.

Scott Redding should be the man to beat as he knows Silverstone, but it’s the first meeting of the season and it’s BSB with lots of young hungry riders - so anything could happen!

MotoGP update round 2 Argentina (and F1 rant!)

Qatar was an unbelievable start to the season and was only won on the very last corner. The race was the complete opposite of the Formula One opening race which had the biggest buildup known to man, but was literally over in the first hundred metres and only had one decent overtake in the whole race.
